Exciting Places To Trek in Wayanad

You will be excited to trek across the non-linear routes along Wayanad. There are small trails across which you will go on in your treks that will take hardly a day. While this may not seem exciting enough, trekkers will be surprised at the challenges you come across while trekking in Wayanad. While some areas have gentler slopes which is easy to trek, certain other areas require experience and a better understanding of the terrain before hitting the trails.
Pakshipathalam Peak Trek
Located at a height of 1,740 kilometers above the sea level and is one among the challenging spots for tourists across Wayanad. Trekkers will be met with deep caves, thick rock blocks and wild forests during the trek. Trekkers can reach the top after travelling 16 kilometers. Pakshipathalam is near the Brahmagiri hills, but unlike the latter Pakshipathalam has gentler slopes and is a comparatively easy terrain to climb. With amazingly beautiful surroundings, the hill offers great opportunities for photography. The  best season for trekking is from November to April.



This is one of the most picturesque views of nature’s artistic present to Wayanad. On your trek you will come across little streams all along the way that is beautiful. The hill presents a stunning and mesmerizing view of the surroundings from its slopes. The only peak that is higher than the Brahmagiri peak is that of the Chembra peak which you can see once you reach the top. Trekkers can reach the top after travelling 9 kilometers. The best time to visit is from November to February.


This is the best place where you can explore your passion to trek along the tallest of the Wayanad hills that is at a height of 6,900 feet, it is the tallest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the Chembra peak is a straight route through green meadows. Initially it might take you by surprise as the slopes from the foot are surprisingly steep. It takes some time for a trekker to adjust to the terrain but after that it is easy. It takes a maximum of three hours for a  trekker to reach the peak. The Chembra peak has many wonders hidden in it like the heart shaped lake called Hridaya Saras. Trekkers can reach the top after travelling 9 kilometers.  The best season to visit is from September to February.




 Banasura  Hill, is the second tallest mountain in Wayanad. The trekking route is quite mystic and a bit difficult to trek through. It is located at a height of 6,801 feet.  The hill is named after the mythical character Banasura. The Banasura Hill is not an easy place to trek as it has steep slopes, knee high weeds and rocks blocking the path.Once you reach the top  you can see the amazing view that overlooks the Banasura Water Reservoir and the misty peaks of the surrounding hills. Trekkers can reach the top after travelling 12 kilometers. October to May is the best time to visit Banasura peak.
