Waterfalls In Wayanad

Wayanad is one of the most sought after tourist location in India. Soochipara waterfalls
Soochipara waterfall is a three tiered waterfall at Vellarimala in Wayanad. It is surrounded by lush green forest, is also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfall.  The name Soochipara derived from the words ‘soochi’ and ‘para’ means ‘rock’ and ‘needle’. As you can see the rock  is needle shaped in here. Travellers has to walk around two kilometers to reach the waterfall. The water falls from a height of  two hundred meters. There is a pool beneath the waterfall , where you can go for a swimming. The best time to visit the Soochipara waterfall is monsoon ,during monsoon you can see the waterfall at its fullest.
Chethalayam waterfalls


This spectacular waterfall is  around twelve kilometer away from Sulthan Bathery. Here you can experience the amazing beauty of Wayanad , a true magic of nature. To reach the waterfall you have to trek around four kilometer through the dense woods. Chethalayam waterfall is an ideal place for to plan a trekking. You can have an adventurous walk through the scenic beauty, sloppy mountains and fabulous surroundings. Best time to visit this place  is just after the monsoon season.

Meenmutty waterfalls

Meenmutty waterfall is one of the major attractions in Wayanad. It’s a three tired waterfall , with a height of three hundred meters. It is the biggest waterfall in  Wayanad and the second biggest in Kerala. The name ‘Meenmutty’ derived from the concept that the fishes are blocked here. ‘Meen’ means ‘fish’ and ‘Mutty’ means ‘blocked’ and thus ‘Meenmutty’. To reach this waterfall you have to trek around two kilometers through the dense forest. Meenmutty is considered as a dangerous waterfall.
It is located  29 kilometers away from Kalpetta. The best time to visit Meenmutty is  from October to May.

Kanthanpara waterfalls

The breathtaking attraction of the path leading to Kanthanpara waterfall seems to more beautiful than the fall itself. The waterfall is only 30 m high and comparatively, this is one is smaller than Meenmutty and Soochipara. This waterfall is very safe for children, they can enjoy here utmost. One of the reasons for people preferring this waterfall is the picturesque beauty of the nature surrounding the waterfalls and the other reason is that Kanthanpara fall is very easy to access than the other waterfalls in Wayanad. It’s  22 kilometer away from Kalpetta, you can reach here through bus or taxi services .
